Kozuka handle with Kogatana Blade Set! 【A galloping horse 】. This artwork depicts a horse galloping powerfully, evoking the image of an Edo-period samurai. It’s believed to be from Japan’s Edo period.
Large curved Japanese-style sword featuring an aged leather-covered scabbard, traditional wrapped handle, decorative fittings, and engraved blade motifs. The sword includes an unusual lower scabbard fitting believed to have ceremonial significance. Acquired through a Portland estate auction and offered as an intriguing collector’s piece with strong display presence and apparent age.
Historically, these utility knives were carried in a specialized slot on the side of a Japanese sword’s scabbard (such as a katana or wakizashi).
A nice example of a Koto Wakizashi of the Shinto period, Bungo Takada School. A great little sword with lots of history. The paper has in-depth reading off the smith and school, regions. It describes in detail the different parts of a sword.
